Rucksacks on the Grass Our tent is a Trailrunner II from Lowland Outdoor Technology, the Dutch manufacturer. This was supplied by Mail Order from Field and Trek plc (http://www.field-trek.co.uk). We bought ourselves new rucksacks for this trip from Trek Plus, St Helier, Jersey. We chose Karrimor Jaguar GR 65s with their very fancy, and useful, selection of adjustments and aluminium back bars. These come in a men's and a women's version for accuracy of fit.

In addition we took all the obvious and necessary kit including sleeping bags, Karrimats, maps, whistles, torches, compass, waterproofs etc.

One day we'll open this We took a Camping Gaz Stove and enameled steel plates, mugs and saucepans. These turned out to be too heavy and have been replaced in time for our next trip. We have found a set of aluminium pans, made for the outdoors, in The People's Republic of China. The set includes wind shielding and a resealable meths burner. Methylated spirit is a fuel that we keep on the boat anyway, in quantities of up to 5 litres - for starting the Tilly Lamps among other things - so I am happy to experiment with it in this context. We know about the probable health hazards of aluminium cookware but were both tempted to disregard this in this instance because of the benefit of weight and the sheer cleverness of this particular set. We also don't expect to be eating from this set for very many weeks in each year. More news from the field as soon as we've used it.
